How to Reset My Computer's IP Address

Windows
Sometimes a computer will have a conflicting IP address with another device on the local network.  This prevents the computer from connecting properly and cannot access resources such as shared printers and Internet connections.  These steps will guide you to reset your computer's IP address.
  • Click the Windows Start button
  • With the cursor in the Search box, type cmd and press enter
  • In the command window, type ipconfig /release and press enter
  • In the command window, type ipconfig /renew and press enter
  • Close the command window
